Rochester, N.Y. – iHeart Media has fired radio hosts Kimberly and Beck following racist remarks made on-air Tuesday.

In a statement released early Wednesday morning, President of iHeart Media’s Upstate New York group Bob Morgan said: “We made the decision to terminate Kimberly and Beck yesterday as soon as we learned of their comments and informed them early this morning. We will not tolerate this kind of behavior, which is antithetical to our core values and beliefs and to our commitment to our community and everyone in it.”

The hosts were discussing the attack of a couple on a Rochester street Saturday night during the wave of violence following a protest on the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Their language included references to “the n-word.”

Late Tuesday night, Monroe County Legislator Rachel Barnhart, New York Assembly candidate and Rochester Chief of Staff Alex Yudelson called for their dismissal, and Deputy Mayor James Smith urged listeners to contact iHeart sponsors.
