ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Without guidance from the state yet, movie theaters and gyms are trying to come up with plans in hopes of reopening soon.

The Little Theatre, a staple for Rochester movie fans, is eager to have its audience back. Scott Pukos, The Little’s public relations manger, says it will be able to set an opening date once it gets guidelines from the state.

“We want people to know they’re safe there, so they can go see a movie and not have any hesitation, and feel that this is a safe spot to watch entertainment,” said Pukos.

Some of their new procedures include asking guests to wear masks when they are in the lobby and at the concession stands. Once seated, the mask can come off. Seating will also be assigned to ensure safe social distancing.

“I think it’ll still be a magical experience. You’re still sharing in with this art with an audience, and it will be different and we know this,” said Pukos.

Brockport’s Strand Theater is looking to open July 10 ,when more movies are coming out.

Gyms are also under phase 4. Planet Fitness is preparing to reopen its doors with touch-less check-ins. It has put up signs promoting social distancing, encouraging members to stay six feet apart.

Austyn Affronti owns a studio that is considered a professional service, so his gym has been open since phase two. He says he has been able to keep up with state guidelines with less than ten people in the gym at a time.

“We’re having them wear gloves, sanitize their hands before and after they leave the gym. We’re keeping it safe. I’m having the gym cleaned multiple times a week,” said Affronti.
