ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — An astronaut in orbit posted a photo of the Great Lake region from the International Space Station, with the Rochester area clearly visible if you know where to look.

Astronaut Doug Hurley, who went to the International Space Station on a SpaceX ship in May, posted the picture on Twitter on Saturday.

“I stayed up late last night to spend some time looking out the window. It was a beautiful day to see the Great Lakes and my childhood home in upstate New York,” the astronaut wrote. Hurley was born in Endicott but considers Apalachin his hometown, according to NASA’s website. Both are in upstate.

If you look closely enough, you can even make out the Genesee River, as well as the Finger Lakes up and to the right.
